Palpali Dhaka has become famous in the country and abroad. Palpa, known for its Dhaka products, has been declared as the capital of Dhaka. Palpa has been developed as the capital of Dhaka by the Palpali Dhaka Association.
Lumbini Minister for Law, Women, Children and Senior Citizens Rama Gharti and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Narayan Prasad Duwadi declared Palpa as the capital of Dhaka. On the occasion, Minister Gharti said that the business would increase after the development of Dhaka, adding that the state government would assist in the development of entrepreneurship by developing women's skills. He said that as the involvement of women in this work is increasing, dependency will be removed and many will become self-employed.
Joint Secretary Duwadi stressed on the need to increase the skill development and production of entrepreneurs as Palpa, the capital of Dhaka, has now added opportunities and challenges.
Tansen Mayor Ashok Kumar Shahi informed that the district has been declared the capital of Dhaka by conducting various programs through the municipality in collaboration with SIP and UKAID. Purnamaya Maharjan, president of the association, said that the Dhaka business, which was produced in the name of Palpali Dhaka, has started branding and sending it to the market to create a separate identity of the district.
"Palapa dhaka cloths have become infamous. Now after branding and sending it to the market, no one from will be deceived," he said.
It is said that Palpali Dhaka cloth has been brought to the market as a brand after the complaints of consumers being compelled to cheat due to lack of quality and identity of Palpali Dhaka. Consumers have become enthusiastic after the brand Dhaka was introduced in the market to identify that it is now a product of Palpa.
Genuine Palpali Dhaka produced from tan has been exported to the country and abroad. However, in the Dhaka textile trade, machine-made Dhaka, which was imported from outside, began to dominate the market and the consumers and traders of Dhaka were getting affected.
Many kinds of goods have been made by diversifying Palpali Dhaka. From decorative materials, Palpali Dhaka is now used in making purses, ties, bags, ascots, kurtas, daura suruwals and even gift items. Anyone who comes here carries goods made from Dhaka cloth as souvenirs.
