The successful Pokhara International Marathon run by the Nepal Alumni Forum every year will be held in two phases.
Today's meeting of the forum has decided to hold the competition in two phases keeping in mind the growing risk of Covid-19. It has been decided that the open marathon of 42.195 km and women's 21 km race will be held on February 19, and the 10 and 5 km race for the disabled will be held on March 26, said Hari Prasad Parajuli, chairman of the forum.
He claimed that the Pokhara Marathon is the oldest marathon in the country and added that various thematic committees have been working hard to make the marathon a success. Appealing to various tole development organizations, mothers' groups and other organizations for their support in making the marathon a success, he expressed confidence that the competition would help in the promotion of tourism in Pokhara.
According to Krishna Timilsina, general secretary of the forum, the prize money for the open marathon under Pokhara Marathon is Rs 400,000 in cash. “The Pokhara Marathon is now gaining traction worldwide. It is a matter of pride for runners from abroad to come to Pokhara for this, ”he said.
