Chief of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) in Gandaki Province, Basudev Paudel, has been conferred on the 'Agro-Tourism Senior Journalist Honour' in Pokhara today.
He was honoured amidst a programme organised on the occasion of the second annual general meeting of Agro Tourism Cooperative Ltd. Paudel was handed over money, and a felicitation letter, and offered a shawl.
Province Chief of RSS, Paudel was honoured in recognition of his contribution to agro-tourism via journalism. He was honoured jointly by Gandaki Province's Minister for Social Development and Health, Sushila Shimkhada, and Cooperatives' Chairman Dilliram Baral.
On the occasion, Minister Shimkhada viewed once agriculture and tourism were interlinked, it would help connect people to production. She however said the cooperatives were witnessing problems of late. So, the cooperatives must be linked to production by maintaining economic discipline.
Cooperatives' Chairperson Baral viewed the concept of agro-tourism was forwarded to reduce poverty by creating employment via entrepreneurship. Infrastructures for agro-tourism are essential, according to him.
He further argued that cooperatives are boosting production via collective efforts with the use of local resources. ----
