The government will provide loans at base rate interest to the pharmaceutical industries interested in developing anti-COVID-19 vaccines.

Arrangements will be made for banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to provide loans at base rate interest to the industries which want to produce standard vaccines against the infection, said Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari while unveiling the monetary policy for the fiscal year, 2021/22 on Friday.

It came in the context that the government is at work to produce COVID-19 vaccines.

Similarly, arrangements will be made for BFIs to provide loans in an easy way to establish a hospital with up to 100 beds at a local level. Existing provisions relating to the import of lifesaving drugs and medical equipment for the treatment of problems caused by the infection will be reviewed and facilitated accordingly.
