Art exhibition kicks off in Thamel

An art exhibition has kicked off in Thamel, a popular tourist hub of Kathmandu.

Hosted by the Society for Street Children in Nepal, the six-day art exhibition has begun at the Kathmandu Eco Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Chairperson of Thamel Tourism Development Council Bhabiswor Sharma expressed his confidence that publicity of Nepal as a country enriched in art and culture across the globe would help promote tourism in the Himalayan nation.

He urged children to participate in creative art competitions and showcase their excellence in the genre.

Preserving the street children and children in other sectors since 2010, the Society for Street Children in Nepal said the art exhibition was hosted to explore the latent talent of the children in arts.

Society Chairperson Eva Holmberg Tedert shared that the organization has preserved over 400 street children and other sector children in the past 13 years and is now preserving 55 children.

As informed, the organization has been running an earthquake-devastated school reconstruction program in Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, and Dhading. Also, the organization was running a support program for bee-keeping, goat-rearing, and gender-based violence elimination.

General manager of Eco Hotel Sahadev (Bimal) Dhamala shared that the exhibition has showcased 28 art of by seven children. The event was organized to attract children to create art, he said. ---
