The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has sought a withdrawal of all the writ petitions against him filed at the Supreme Court (SC).
In his written response submitted to the SC, Lamichhane demanded the revocation of the writ petition against the decision of the Office of the Attorney General, which had furnished its decision that there was no evidence to lodge a case against Lamichhane regarding misuse of Nepali passport.
The SC, after hearing the writ petition demanding the annulment of the decision of the Attorney General that Lamichhane could not be prosecuted on the charge of misuse of a passport, had demanded a written response from Lamichhane.
Yubaraj Safal had filed a writ petition against Lamichhane at the SC demanding the annulment of the decision of the Office of the Attorney General not to pursue a case against Lamichhane. After hearing the petition, the constitutional bench of the SC ordered a show cause and demanded a written reply from Lamichhane.
In the written reply, Lamichhane, also former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, said the SC had already issued an order on the case of citizenship dispute and he had completed the processes to obtain citizenship of Nepal.
He asserted that he had never committed an offense against the Passport Act and had never done anything wrong to harm others by obtaining a passport.
