The government has decided to give vitamin A and parasite medicine to the children on April 19 and 21 this year.
The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to give Vitamin A to children from 6 months to 59 months and anti-parasitic drugs to children from 12 months to 59 months under the National Vitamin Program. Vitamin A capsules will be given to 2.7 million children and anti-leprosy drugs to 2.4 million children, said Lilavikram Thapa, head of the nutrition branch of the Family Welfare Division.
According to him, 52,000 health volunteers and 15,000 health workers will be mobilized for the Vitamin A program. He said that a budget of Rs. 67.2 million has been allocated for the program.
Twice a year in the first phase on 19th and 20th of October and in the second phase on 19th and 21st of April the children are given Vitamin A and parasite medicine. The ministry has urged parents to go to the nearest distribution center and collect vitamin A and parasite medicine.
