Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah has said that the Metropolitan is going to invite tenders for the construction of 10 smart toilets immediately. He said that the toilets would be useful for men and women as well as persons with disabilities.
As per the Mayor, the Metropolitan has not taxed the people to use the toilet in various banks and restaurants but they have given it voluntarily. However, he said that it can be used only if the concerned institution is open. The Metropolitan will provide cleaning materials in four months to the organizations that allow the public to use the toilet.
Mayor Shah said that the decision has not been taken even though there is talk of giving tax exemption to such organizations and even if tax exemption is given to restaurants, it cannot be given as the bank's tax will be high.
He said that the ward office can remove those who keep vehicles even on the sidewalk by operating a car and motorcycle workshop and if necessary, the metropolitan police can be called.
