Six metric tons of garbage has been managed by cleaning the Bagmati bank of Sinamangal area.

During the 467th week of the Bagmati Sanitation Campaign and the 367th week of the Tilganga Women's Group, six metric tons of garbage was cleaned and managed in the area, campaigner Kishore Singh Shahi told RSS.

The cleaning campaign has not been stopped even in adverse conditions including winter, summer, rain and festivals. Influenced by the Maha Abhiyan, the Bagmati tributary river cleaning campaign has also started in the Kathmandu Valley. Currently, 25 places in the capital are being cleaned.

Similarly, major cities, rivers and cultural heritage sites outside the Kathmandu Valley are also being cleaned. It is said that cleaning is being done in 109 places outside the capital. Similarly, various sections of Bagmati including Rudramati, lower and upper part of Vishnumati, Manohara, northern and western parts of Chakrapath have also been cleaned.

Cleaning is also underway at Godavari Khola in Lalitpur and Hanumante in Bhaktapur. Despite the nationwide clean-up campaign being carried out by the activists, the local government has not provided the required support. Garbage management is the responsibility of the local government but they have not shown interest in working. Garbage has not been collected in the Kathmandu Valley for more than a month which has sent a negative message to tourists as garbage has not been collected.

Local governments have avoided waste management as if it were not their job. Some campaigners, on the other hand, have called on the leaders of the political parties who come to seek votes during the local elections to ask questions on the issue. Most of the local level leaders elected from the local level election of 2017 AD have not given priority to waste management.
