President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged the Nepal Sanskrit University to create an environment conducive to offering classes on Ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, and architecture through the use of modern technology while conserving Sanskrit knowledge.

It is our responsibility to preserve Vedic tradition and treatment methods passed down to us as a legacy by our sages, and for this, universities of the country should be effortful, she said.

The President was inaugurating an Ayurveda teaching building belonging to the University at Beljhundi in the Dang district today.

She had an individual and emotional attachment to Sanskrit education, she said recalling that people's leader Madan Bhandari was also a product of Sanskrit subject.

In another context, she said the Dang Valley being one of the biggest valleys in the country had had the biggest contribution to the development of human civilization.

The President said the establishment of the University has taken the identity of Dang to a new height. “It is a matter of pride for the citizens of Dang that it has the Sanskrit University to research and teach about one of the earliest languages and the Eastern civilization.”

The President advised the University to focus on the production of competent human resources capable of consuming the essence of rare creations written in the Sanskrit language and transferring the knowledge to the new generation.

On the occasion, she suggested the University preserve its movable and immovable assets and utilize the same for income-generating activities.
