The government team led by Joint Secretary Pradip Kumar Koirala formed to resolve the issues of loan sharking is expecting the victims to rejoin for the next round of talks.
Though the government had formed a high-powered commission headed by former Judge Gauri Bahadur Karki to address the issues of those subjugated to loan-sharking, the formation of the talks team followed the demand of the "struggle committee of farmers and workers against loan sharking and fraud.'
The victims, who escaped the talks citing dissolution of talks three days ago, have not visited the government team since then. The victims had moved away from the Home Ministry announcing dissolution of the talks unilaterally after the government talks team failed to address the victims' six-point demands.
Coordinator of the government team Koirala said that they are ready to sit for talks at any time soon if the victims of loan sharking come.
Spokesperson of the loan sharking victims struggle committee Nirga Nabin said that their agitation is ongoing in Shanti Batika as they concluded that there was no relevance of talks after the government team repeated the same old rhetoric.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha had held several rounds of discussions with the loan sharking victims to immediately address their problems.
