Basic direction of the budget is right: Dr Rijal

In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, participating in the discussion on the annual revenue and expenditure estimates (budget) of the Fiscal Year 2022/23 the ruling Nepali Congress leader Dr Minendra Rijal said that the basic direction of the budget was right.

 Dr Rijal said that the current and development expenditure in the budget was challenging but the legacy of the previous government was foreign and domestic debt and trade deficit. He said that the budget has taken the policy of increasing imports in the agricultural sector, increasing the salaries of the employees, emphasising on innovation in the industrial sector, seeking new protection in production and paving new way for foreign investment.

Responding to CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Dr Rijal said that it would not be appropriate to compare the former budget with the current one.
