The private sector has been encouraged by the budget the government announced on Sunday. Businesspersons have urged the government to effectively implement it now.

FNCCI Chairperson Sekhar Golchha said various issues were incorporated into the budget and it was an encouraging one. He observed that subsidies in export, focus on production and due address to the agriculture sector are positive sides of the budget.

Similarly, CNI Chairperson Bishnu Kumar Agrawal said promotion of manufacturing industries, review of land ceiling for industries, grant in export and discount on electricity tariff to export industries were welcomed.

NCC Chairperson Rajendra Malla also hailed the budget and stressed that government must implement it effectively.

However, UML Vice-Chairperson and former finance minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel commented that the budget was focused more on election spending, a continuation of ongoing projects and daily administration.

He said the government failed to understand the current priorities and even brought projects of long-term importance.

Similarly, UML leader and former finance minister Surendra Pandey pointed out that there was no balance between government policy and programmes, and budget. "The implementation of this budget is impossible," he added.
