Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, and Resident Representative for UNDP in Nepal, Ayshanie Madagangoda-Labe, today held discussion about the reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-hit Kagbeni of Mustang.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Pandey drew the attention of UNDP for the support, saying locals are still facing difficulties due to the flood that occurred at Kagbeni on August 13. The devastating Kagbeni flood had damaged property worth over Rs 1 billion.
Many houses, government and non-government buildings, bridges as well as other structures suffered damages in the flood.
Saying it is not easy to complete all works related to reconstruction immediately amidst the limited means and resources of the provincial government, he stressed that the donor agencies should support in accordance with the government's plan.
The Chief Minister urged Labe to support production-oriented programmes to stop migration within the province.
Similarly, Labe shared that programmes connecting youths with employment would be launched in the province, briefing the programmes run by UNDP in Gandaki Province.
Sharing that they would support Gandaki Province keeping the priorities of Gandaki Province government in mind, she mentioned that UNDP was ready to work with Gandaki Province government in reconstruction and rehabilitation of Kagbeni. ---
