Nepali Congress leader and MP Dr. Chandrakant Bhandari, who was injured in a fire after cooking gas leaked on Wednesday night, is being treated at the National Burn Center in Mumbai, India.
Congress leader Yograj Kandel, who is in Mumbai, informed that according to the consultation of Dr. Sunil Keswani, Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Dr. Amul, the doctor of the hospital said that Bhandari's parameters are normal, but he will be kept on a ventilator for 48 hours.
Leader Bhandari's heart rate is normal, the doctor said that antibiotics will be given continuously and there is no need to panic and the amount of fluid in the body will be doubled. Leader Kandel informed that preparations are being made for the first operation today and the second operation in the afternoon. Bhandari was taken to the National Burn Center in Mumbai, India on Thursday afternoon by Shree Airlines flight after proper treatment was not possible in Nepal.
He was earlier treated at Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. The hospital recommended that he be taken out of the country saying that proper treatment would not be easy in Nepal with the available facilities and resources. MP Bhandari and his mother Harikala were injured when a fire broke out in their residence after a gas leak. Harikala died on Thursday during treatment. According to the hospital, 25-30 percent of the leader Bhandari's face, both hands and both legs were burnt.
