The police have started an investigation into the death of Prem Prasad Acharya. The investigation started on the basis of the Facebook status he wrote before setting himself on fire in front of the Parliament building. According to sources at the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, interrogation has started against the people who accused Acharya of not giving them the amount they were supposed to receive.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the police called Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Super Market, for a statement. A police source said he is being interviewed at the Teku office of the District Police Complex, Kathmandu.
Prem Prasad, who had set himself on fire on Tuesday afternoon last week, died at Kirtipur Burn Hospital at 6 am the next day. 37-year-old Acharya, a resident of Suryodaya Municipality of Ilam, was rescued by the police and taken to the hospital.
More than 80 percent of his body was burnt. Before his death, the Minister of State for Health Dr. Toshima Karki met him.
