Flood sweeps away house in Melamchi

Over 50 houses at risk of floods in Melamchi

The Melamchi and Indrawati rivers flooded due to torrential rain, have washed away a house in Melamchi Municipality-11 of Sindhupalchowk district today.

The three-story house belonging to Gopal Dulal was washed away by the swollen rivers, Melamchi-based Area Police Office informed.

The floods that occurred on June 15 claimed the lives of five people and damaged physical properties and infrastructures worth millions of rupees. Dozens of people are still missing while more than 400 families have been displaced due to natural disasters.

Meanwhile, police have urged the people in settlements on the banks down the confluence of the rivers to stay alert as the water level has continued surging with the incessant rain.

It has been learnt that more than 50 houses are at risk of flood in Melamchi.
