Historian Rana passes away

KATHMANDU: Historian Purushottam Shashmer Rana passed away while receiving treatment at MediCity Hospital in Lalitpur on Thursday. He was 99 year old.

Rana’s daughter-in-law Bhagawati Rana informed that the nonagenarian was admitted in hospital after he suffered from low blood pressure.

Although born in Kathmandu on Chaitra 15, 1982BS, the late Rana had studied at Palpa Durbar due to prohibition by then royal Rana regime in Kathmandu. He did his matriculation from the UP Board and the Intermediate study from the Jay Narayan College of Baranasi.

He involved in the movement against Rana regime while studying BCom in the Banaras Hindu University.

Purusthottam Shumsher Rana is a significant figure on Nepal’s history, especially on Rana regime.
