The process of taking Nepalese workers to Israel has resumed after a long time. 10 years ago, Nepalese used to go to Israel for foreign employment especially as caregivers and was considered a good destination.

After a long time, Israel has resumed providing visas this year.

As per the agreement signed between Nepal and Israel at the government level (G to G) on "Bringing Auxiliary Workers from Nepal to Israel's Nursing Sector", 297 out of more than 1,000 Nepalese selected by the Department of Foreign Employment through various stages of examination have gone to Israel so far.

Last January, 99 Nepalese reached in Israel work as support workers in Israel's nursing sector (especially Geriatric Centers). At the same time, Israeli employment, which had been suspended for the past decade, was resumed for Nepalese.

Until a few years ago, Nepalese used to go to Israel for foreign employment through the private sector. After that process was stopped, a pilot project was started to bring Nepalese workers to Israel from the government level (G to G). After the completion of the project, Nepalese had not been able to go to Israel for a few years.

However, Nepalese could not go to Israel when the visa process was stopped due to the movement of the employees' union of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides had a meeting on resuming the process again. On behalf of Nepal, Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment Shesh Narayan Poudel, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Labor Dr. Thaneshwar Bhusal and Nepal's Acting Ambassador to Israel Arjun Ghimire and Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Goder, Director of the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) Shirley, Director of the Israeli Ministry of Health Tsaffy was in attendance.

During the talks, the Israeli side was called upon to resume the process immediately. With the end of the trade union movement, Israel also agreed to continue the process.

The Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu has informed that the process of obtaining Israeli visa is smooth
