The government has passed the 'Local Level Election Integrated Security Policy' to conduct the local elections in a fair manner.
A meeting of the security committee chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan on Thursday passed the policy.
"The security committee meeting has passed the integrated security policy required for the election," said Home Ministry spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokhrel. The policy helps in conducting the election in a fair and fearless manner. '
During the meeting, the security chiefs expressed their views on the current security situation and the work to be done to hold the election.
"At the meeting, the members discussed the upcoming security challenges and the strategies to be adopted to address those challenges," Pokhrel said.
The meeting also discussed how to manage security during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's three-day visit to Nepal starting from Friday.
During the meeting, Home Minister Khan instructed the security chiefs to provide necessary security arrangements during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang's visit. The security chiefs have informed the meeting that they have made an action plan to complete the visit peacefully.
The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Khan and was attended by Home Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, Defense Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma, Rathi Bal Krishna Karki of Nepal Army, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal, Chief of National Investigation Department Yadunath Kharel and Home Spokesperson Pokharel.
