NA Chairman calls for ensuring treatment services

National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has opined to reduce the trend of going abroad for the purpose of treatment in the name of quality healthcare services.

Speaking at an interaction programme organised by Ministry of Health and Population, and NA's National Concerns and Coordination Committee on public health issues, Timilsina laid emphasis on ensuring quality healthcare in the institutions run within the country.

Assurance of better treatment facilities within the country compared to other countries should be provided to the citizens here, Chairman Timilsina said.

On the occasion, Chairman Timilsina stated that a huge amount of money is remitted abroad from Nepal while taking treatment facilities there.

Committee Chairperson Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa said every citizen should be accountable for a healthy and robust nation.

On the occasion, Ministry's secretary Dr Roshan Pokharel said Nepal needs some 15,000 to 20,000 health workers by 2030 and for this, the Ministry should work.

Ministry's Spokesperson and Chief Specialist Dr Sangita Mishra, Chief of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Dr Chumanlal Das, Chief of WHO Nepal Office Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav and other speakers urged one and all to abide by health protocol in view of rising cases of COVID-19.
