Gaidakot Municipality in Nawalpur district has distributed disaster management equipment to police here.
The equipments amounting to Rs 120,000 was provided to the local police for rescue, search and post-disaster relief operation among others. The materials include folding stretcher, life jacket, helmet, safety belt, shovel and tarpaulin sheet among others, said Mayor Madan Bhakta Adhikari.
Adhikari shared that the Municipality will add additional Rs 10 million in the Disaster Management Fund that already has eight million rupees in it for effective disaster response efforts.
Meanwhile, Gaidakot Municipality has inked an agreement with Devachuli Municipality for procuring fire brigade, added Adhikari. Chief of Area Police Office, Gaidakot, Police Inspector Prashant Shrestha expressed his confidence that it will be easier for them to work for disaster response.
According to Inspector Shrestha, annually 25 to 30 people jump into Narayani River that flows through Chitwan and Nawalpur. With newly distributed equipments, rescue operation would be easier.
