NHRC urges not to violate human rights in local elections

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the people guilty of human rights violations not to run in the local elections.

The NHRC, State-1 Branch Office Khotang has issued a press release requesting the major parties active in Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu districts in the local level election.

The statement said, "We have written to the major political parties active in Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu districts in the forthcoming local elections."

In addition, the commission has urged to decide the candidates on the basis of the principle of proportional inclusion in the election and not to use children in the programs organised during the election campaign.

The commission has also requested the candidates and the leadership not to utter obscene words such as spreading hatred in various programs during the election period and to abide by the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission, especially those related to human rights.
