Postponed election to be held on Sunday

Polling will be held on Sunday at two postponed polling stations of Janata Higher Secondary School Hariraha in Dakneshwari Municipality-2 of Saptari district. A meeting held at the polling station today in the presence of Election Officer of Dakneshwari Municipality Shambhunath Magar has decided to hold the postponed polling from 7 am on Sunday.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Law Phanindra Gautam, Election Officer Magar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle of the District Police Office Saptari and Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Shyam Sharma Poudel have reached the spot after the locals beat up Bipin Yadav, a polling officer of the 'A' Center and vandalized the ballot box.

 An all-party meeting held in their presence at the polling station decided to hold the polling on Sunday after the beating and vandalism. The election was postponed after the locals beat up Yadav and vandalized the ballot boxes, saying that Yadav had stamped the Congress symbol instead of the intended symbol indicated by a disabled women voters.

 According to Kafle, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Saptari, the locals smashed the ballot boxes and tore the ballot papers. At the time of the incident, 136 votes had been cast in Center A and 160 in Center B.

 Political parties participating in the election, Kulananda Biraji of the District Election Office, Musaharu Sah, polling officer of polling station B, Zakir Hussain, assistant polling officer and Surendra Kumar Yadav, assistant polling officer of polling station A were also present in the decision making.

Polling officer Yadav, who is undergoing treatment at Chhinnamasta Hospital in Rajbiraj, said that he had stamped the tree mark shown by the disabled woman as per the decision of the party representatives.
