President Vidya Devi Bhandari has given approval to mobilize the Nepal Army in the local level election to be held on April 12.
According to a statement issued by the President's Office Spokesperson Sagar Acharya today, he has given the approval to mobilize the army in accordance with Article 66 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal as per the recommendation of the National Security Council and the decision of the Council of Ministers.
The National Security Council (NSC) had on April 3 recommended the army mobilize the security forces in an integrated and coordinated manner as per the provisions of the Local Level Election Integrated Security Plan, 2078 BS to conduct the local elections in a free, fair and fearless environment. Also, a meeting of the Council of Ministers on the same day had been decided in this regard.
