The National Madrasa Association of Nepal has issued a press release stating that the holy month of Islam and the fast of Ramadan has started today.
According to Maulana Mashhud Khan Nepali, General Secretary of the National Madrasa Association of Nepal, it is customary for Muslims to fast for 30 days during the holy month of Ramadan, pray to Allah and seek forgiveness for their wrongdoings.
During Ramadan, it is customary to give alms to poor families. According to the schedule of fasting during the month of Ramadan in Jamia Sirajulwalum Alsalfia Jhandanagar, one should observe Nirajal fast for about 14 hours this time.
The National Madrasa Association of Nepal has informed that Tarabih prayers will be offered in Nepal on April 2 and fasting will be observed from April 3 due to the sighting of the moon in the month of Ramadan in various cities of neighbouring India.
According to Dr Abdul Gani Al Kufi, President of the National Madrasa Association of Nepal, religious places are open in Nepal due to the low incidence of the Covid-19 epidemic. He has requested to come to the mosque to offer prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Khan Nepali, general secretary of the association, said that he would help the poor families by giving zakat (donation) of 2.5 per cent of the halal money he earned during the holy month of Ramadan.
