Seven members of a same family died in a landslide that buried their house in Jumla district. Similarly, two others have been injured.

The landslide buried the house belonging to Ganesh Bahadur Shahi at Barkotebada of Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-5, which killed seven members of Shahi's family. The disaster occurred early morning on Saturday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narendra Chand.

DSP Chand said, "We got the information that the landslide occurred at 4:00am. As the tragedy occurred while they were sleeping, they could not escape. Police and locals have recovered all seven dead bodies while injured ones are being treated in a health facility."

Rainfall is continuous in Jumla. Roadways are damaged and blocked in many places, creating difficulty for movement.

However, a team of district security committee has moved for the disaster-hit area. "We're on the way- clearing debris and moving ahead. Possibly, we reach the incident site by this evening," he added.

Even the telephone service has been disrupted in the district.
