Though there were talks that the guidelines related to the formation of a constitutional bench at the Supreme Court would be amended a decision has been taken not to amend the guidelines.

A full bench of the Supreme Court today took a decision not to amend the guidelines related to the formation of the constitutional bench. Talks to amend the guidelines had surfaced due to the controversy surrounding the composition of the constitutional bench that was formed to hear the writ petitions filed against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s move to dissolve the House of Representatives.

The full bench has come to a conclusion that since there is no hurdle in forming a constitutional bench based on seniority there is no need to amend the guidelines for the purpose.
