Sisterhood has been established between the two villages of Gorkha. Chairman of Shahid Lakhan Village Municipality, Ramesh Thapa Magar, informed that sisterhood has been established between Shahid Lakhan and Gandaki Village Municipality of the district by agreeing to cooperate in various fields.


He said that the relationship was established with the decision to move forward by establishing a sisterhood relationship between the two municipalities as the borders are geographically connected and moving forward through cooperation and coordination would also facilitate development. "A joint meeting of the two village executives has been held and the 11-point agreement has been unanimously passed and signed by the chairperson, vice-chairperson, and chief administrative officer of both the municipalities," he said. Chairman Thapa Magar informed that an agreement has been reached to work together for the construction and upgrading of strategic roads, physical infrastructure along the border of the two villages.


"There is an understanding that both the municipalities will jointly allocate budget for the construction of roads on the border or joint coordination between the center and the states if additional budget is required," he said. Similarly, the two municipalities have also agreed to work together for the promotion of the tourism sector and for the promotion of domestic tourists, said Chairman Thapa Magar.


He said that the sisterhood relationship will grant that the work done by one village municipality becomes the learnings that are shared between the two. While signing the MoU, Gandaki Chairman Hom Bahadur Rana said that one should grasp from Shahid Lakhan village municipality that one should not engage in politics for development. "We should all reflect on the success achieved by Shahid Lakhan Municipality with the objective of not politicizing development," he said. "Gandaki Municipality should also learn from Shahid Lakhan Municipality."


In the meeting of the joint executive committee of both the villages, the administrative heads of both the villages and the participating executive members were informed about the constructive work being done by their respective municipalities. "While informing about the creative work done by one municipality in the meeting, the other municipality got a chance to know and learn, we have even discussed whether it can be maintained. ”, said Jeevan Bahadur Alemgar, Chief Administrative Officer of Shahid Lakhan Village Municipality.


"Apart from this, the two municipalities have agreed to take joint initiative in agricultural production, market management and to help each other in disasters", he said. The MoU was signed by Gandaki Village Municipality Chairperson Ranamagar, Vice-Chairperson Lalita Adhikari, and Shahid Lakhan Village Municipality Chairperson Thapmagar and Vice-Chairperson Indira Tiwari.
