Tourism increases in Ghodepani and Poon Hill

Tourists are flocking to Ghodepani and Poon Hill, the major tourist destinations of Myagdi located in Annapurna Gaonpalika-6.

The number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Nepal has started increasing as the tourist area, which was closed due to increasing risk of corona virus infection, has reopened. With the increase in the number of foreign tourists, the tourism sector has also started moving. With the increasing risk of corona virus infection, the Ghodepani rehabilitation area had been deserted since April, 2077 BS. Chairman of Ghodepani Toll Improvement Committee, Viren Garbuja, said that foreign tourists started coming after two years. "With the onset of spring, the number of tourists visiting Ghodepani and Poon Hill has increased," he said. He said that he was happy with the increase in tourist arrivals. According to Chairman Garbuja, the time of spring is considered as the season for tourists. During this time the tourist areas are crowded. Entrepreneurs also earn good income. However, with the rising risk of corona virus infection, the hotel and tourism business has been trapped for the spring past two years. From this year, the number of tourists is expected to increase and the hotel and tourism business is expected to be more comfortable. He said that the business was slowly gaining momentum due to the increasing risk of corona virus infection.

"Lately, the number of foreign tourists has been increasing," he said. The number of foreign guests has increased since the fall. ” He said the number of foreigners would continue to rise. According to him, the number of foreign tourists coming now is much less than the number of foreigners coming last year. ” Hoteliers are hoping to increase the number of tourists as the risk of corona virus infection decreases.  Ghodepani, the main destination of Annapurna Cycle Trail, is located at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level. You can reach again by walking 30 minutes uphill from Ghodepani. In the month of Chait-Vaisakh, 16 mountains including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Gurja, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre and Manapathi can be observed against the backdrop of red gourds blooming on the surrounding slopes.

There are 16 species of Laligurans in this area. Meena Pun, chairperson of Ghodepani Hotel Management Sub-Committee, said that she was waiting for tourists. He said that concessional arrangements have been made to attract domestic tourists. The meeting of the sub-committee has classified the 27 hotels in Ghodepani into two groups on the basis of facilities and infrastructure. The 11 hotels have been categorized into 'A' and 16 'B' groups at different rates.

They have made a package of Rs. 950 to Rs. 1,600 including overnight stay, evening meal and breakfast. Earlier, all the hotels were charging Rs 1,500 per person for overnight stay, evening meal and breakfast. Ghodepani hotels can accommodate more than a thousand people daily. Chairman of the sub-committee, Pun, said that the new rate of hotel classification and fees will be implemented from March 20.
