Two injured in gas explosion at petrol pump

Two people have been injured in a gas explosion at Kanak Petrol Pump in Teku, Kathmandu.

The injured have been identified as Kishori Shah of Jagannathpur village in Parsa district and Deepak Kumar Shah, 18, of Kalimati in Kathmandu, said Superintendent of Police Dinesh Raj Mainali. According to him, the incident took place at around 5 pm when a gas exploded while welding the lid of the fuel tank.

According to Mainali, the teenager's left leg was fractured and her right leg, face, both hands and chest were burnt while Deepak's left cheek was burnt. Both are undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Center and further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
