Final results of 12 municipalities yet to come

Eleven days after the local level election, the final results of 12 municipalities are yet to come. According to the Election Commission, the final results of 460 village municipalities and 279 municipalities have been made public so far.

 Counting of votes in three of the six metropolitan cities has been completed. The results of Biratnagar, Bharatpur and Birgunj have been made public. Nagesh Koirala has won in Biratnagar, Renu Dahal in Bharatpur and Rajeshman Singh in Birgunj.

 Counting is underway in Kathmandu metropolis, Pokhara metropolis, Lalitpur metropolis, Tulsipur sub-metropolis, Katari and Triyuga municipalities of Udayapur, Gadhimai, Garuda and Fatuwa Vijaypur municipalities of Rautahat, Tilotta municipality of Rupandehi, Maharajgunj municipality of Kapilvastu and Budhiganga municipality of Bajura.

 Independent candidate Balendra Sah is leading in Kathmandu metropolis, Chiribabu Maharjan of Congress in Lalitpur, Dhanraj Acharya of CPN (Unified Socialist) in Pokhara and Tikaram Khadka of CPN (UML) in Tulsipur sub-metropolis.

Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in 322 municipalities. Congress has won 188 village council chairpersons and 134 town chiefs. UML has won 202 municipalities including 123 village chairpersons and 79 mayors.

 Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Center) has won in 121 municipalities including 25 mayors and 96 village chairpersons. According to the commission, the UCPN (Maoist) has won 11 seats and other parties and independent candidates have won 30 seats. The Janata Samajwadi Party has won 21 mayors and small parties and independent candidates have won 32 village chairpersons.

 Congress has won 106 deputy chiefs and 190 vice-presidents, UML has won 106 deputy chiefs and 126 vice-presidents, UCPN-M has won 33 deputy chiefs and 95 vice-presidents, Jaspa has won 11 and 19 vice-presidents and other parties have won 23 deputy chiefs and 30 vice-presidents.

 Congress has won the highest number of 2,632 wards. According to the commission, the UML has won 2,112, the Maoists 1,049, the JSP 291 and other parties and independents 585 wards.
