EC releases results of 694 local levels, NC atop count

Of the total 753 local levels, the result of 694 local levels was made public yesterday. According to the Election Commission, Nepali Congress is atop the count.

The EC said representatives in 294 municipalities and 447 rural municipalities have been elected, which is slightly more than 92 per cent of the total local levels.

The counting of votes is likely to take some more days in metropolitan cities and sub-metropolitan cities that have a comparatively higher number of votes.

So far, Nepali Congress is leading the score with victory in 122 municipalities and 184 rural municipalities.

Likewise, UML’s candidates have won in 67 municipalities and 121 rural municipalities, securing its second position.

Maoist Centre has won the mayoral posts in 24 municipalities and 96 rural municipalities.

CPN (Unified Socialist) has secured victory in nine municipalities and is leading in two other municipalities.

Similarly, independent candidates got the victory in 24 rural municipalities and have led in 11 other municipalities.

In the post of deputy mayor of the municipalities, NC got the victory in 94 seats, UML in 91 seats and Maoist Centre’s candidates managed victory in 32 seats as the deputy mayor.

The NC has won vice-chair seats in 187 rural municipalities and is leading in three. Similarly, the UML emerged victorious at 122 seats and is ahead in four.

The Maoist Centre has won 93 seats and is leading in three while the People's Socialist Party (PSP) has secured a win at 18 seats and is ahead in one.

Other parties and independent candidates have won 27 seats and are leading in two.

The NC won 2,508 ward chair seats and is leading in 12. The UML has secured 2,011 seats and is ahead in 11 while the Maoist Centre has won 1,026 seats and is leading in two. PSP has emerged victorious at 264 seats and is ahead in five. Others including independent candidates won 553 seats and are leading in four.

The NC has maintained the lead in 11 places by securing victories for Dalit women members in 2,409. Similarly, for the same post, UML has secured 2,147 victories.

CPN Maoist Centre has secured 947 posts for Dalit women.

Of the ward member, NC has secured 5,001 posts, while NC 4,412; CPN Maoist Centre 1,760; and Samajbadi Party Nepal 527.

After the direction of the Election Commission, the vote count has intensified at the Metropolis with additional counting closets.

The Commission has further informed that decision on whether to count votes or hold re-election at Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura and Triyuga Municipality-12 of Udayapur would be made after investigation.
