KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has decided to call a special session of the Federal Parliament on Friday, April 25 (Baisakh 12), at 1 PM to facilitate the passage of the School Education Bill, which is currently under discussion. The Cabinet meeting held today emphasized the need to pass the bill as soon as possible and committed to necessary coordination and facilitation from the government side.
Amid nationwide protests led by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the government stated that it remains serious and sensitive about the demands raised. Dialogue is ongoing, and the government has expressed its readiness to address legitimate concerns through continued discussion.
The government also expressed concern over the impact of ongoing protests on students, particularly during the current academic period, which includes student admissions, SEE answer sheet evaluations, and Grade 12 national examinations. In light of this, teachers have been urged to return to their workplaces, keeping in mind the best interests of students and parents.
