Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML, has sought a clarification from Prakash Bahadur Shah, the parliamentary head of the party in the National Assembly of Sudurpaschim Province.

The clarification has been sought as the CPN UML chapter of Sudurpaschim Province has decided to continue its support to the CPN (Maoist Centre)-led government in the province against the party high command’s wishes.

Chairperson of the provincial chapter of CPN UML of Sudurpaschim Province, Karna Thapa, informed that PM Oli has sought clarification within 48 hours.

The disciplinary action against Shah has been initiated as the provincial chapter of the party had decided to support the CPN (Maoist Centre) despite the central Standing Committee of the party asking the provincial chapter not to do so.

Oli has sought a clarification from Shah, who is also a central committee member, asking why his membership from the party should not be revoked when there were clear instructions from the central office of the party not to support the government in Sudurpaschim Province.

The prime minister has also questioned Shah on why the CPN UML members are still holding ministerial positions even when the Standing Committee has asked the chapter to withdraw its support to the government. PM Oli has also accused Shah of giving rise to the trend of forming separate groups within the provincial chapter.
