Asia Cup 2023: India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets

India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets on Monday in Pallekele ,thunderous performances from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

As India chased down the amended 145-run mark in 20.1 overs, both hitters came back undefeated, Rohit scoring 74(59) and Gill scoring 67(62). After nearly two hours of weather delays, the game was shortened to 23 overs. India will now move on to the Super 4 round.

After being given the opportunity to bat first, Nepal made a brave attempt, scoring 230 runs until they ran out of wickets in 48.2 overs.

Before Shardul Thakur dismissed Kushal Bhurtel for 38(25), he and Aasif Sheikh had contributed 65 runs to the score for the first wicket. Ravindra Jadeja joined the party shortly after being fired and spearheaded India's resurgence. Mohammed Siraj added three more wickets to Jadeja's haul of three.

As the first player from Nepal to score a half-century against India, Aasif emerged as the camp's star hitter. Before falling out to Siraj in the 30th over, the opener had scored 58 (97).

Before being bowled out by Mohammad Shami in the 47th over, Sompal Kami contributed 48(56) to Nepal's total and shown strong intent.
