KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to play its second match in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup on Monday, looking to bounce back after a five-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in their opening game on Saturday.

The match against Scotland will start at 12:15 pm in Malaysia, where the tournament is taking place. Nepal is in Group ‘D,’ alongside teams like Bangladesh, Australia, and Scotland.

In the opening match, Nepal lost the toss and was put to bat, but they struggled and managed to score only 52 runs in 18.2 overs. Bangladesh comfortably chased the target in 13.2 overs, losing five wickets along the way.

Scotland, too, is eager for a win after suffering a nine-wicket loss to Australia in their first game. With both teams looking for their first victory, today’s match is vital for keeping their World Cup hopes alive.

Nepal’s U-19 team, led by captain Pooja Mahato, will need to perform at their best to secure a win and improve their standing in the group.

The tournament consists of four groups. Group ‘A’ features Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies; Group ‘B’ includes England, Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA; and Group ‘C’ has New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, and Nigeria.

Nepal’s final group-stage match is scheduled against Australia on January 22.
