Women’s T20 Cricket: Nepal defeats Hong Kong by 6 wickets

KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Hong Kong by 6 wickets in the ongoing Women’s T20 International Cricket Tournament in Uganda.

In the match being held at the Entebbe Cricket Ground in Uganda, Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 104 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nepal achieved the winning target of 105 runs in 19.3 overs with the loss of four wickets. Samjhana Khadka scored 47 runs for Nepal. She hit three fours in her 43-ball innings. Similarly, Pooja Mahato scored an unbeaten 20 and Captain Indu Verma scored 18 runs.

Hong Kong’s Mehakdeep Kaur and Lia Wang Kee took one wicket each in the bowling department.

Earlier, Shanjin Shahzad scored the highest score of 54 runs for Hong Kong while scoring 104 runs. She hit five fours and a six in 47 balls. Similarly, Curry Chan added 16 and Yasmin Daswani added 14 runs.

Nepal’s Rajmati Airi took three wickets, captain Indu Verma took two, and Pooja Mahato and Ishwori Bista took one wicket each.
