Chinese paraglider Sgengtao feted

Chinese national Li Shengtao, who successfully undertook paragliding flight from an altitude of 8,000 meters of the world's highest summit, Mount Everest, has been feted. 

Amidst a programme on Wednesday evening, the Babu Adventure Paragliding, Seven Summit Treks Pvt Lrd and Nepal Big Mountain Travels Company honoured Chinese national Shengtao. 

Shengtao had successfully concluded paragliding from the summit of 8,000 meters on last May 18. 

On the occasion, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Buddhisagar Lamichhane said paragliding flight from the top of the mountain was a new experience and potential for tourism sector in Nepal. 

"Nepal has a vast array of potential for tourism. We should reach out our tourism potentials to the globe and earn foreign currency through tourism", he said, adding, "Nepal has been running school to provide education to advance paragliding sector of the country". 

Shengtao had first completed paragliding flight in Pokhara in 2015. 

Tourism entrepreneur Karna Shakya highlighted the need of solidarity from all sides for tourism promotion thereby contributing to the country's development. 

Proprietor of Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd and tourism entrepreneur Mingma Sherpa called for the government to take initiatives to advance paragliding in Nepal. 

Meanwhile, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti had honoured Chinese paraglider Shengtao at the ministry.
