General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport Prem Nath Thakur has been suspended. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rajendra Kumar KC, the audio material of Thakur's conversation with the representative of Thai Smile Airways for the purpose of taking illegal benefits has been received.
He said that a written letter has been sent to the General Manager of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority to suspend him from his post in order to investigate the matter. The ministry said that it will be sent to the Commission Investigation of Abuse Authority for further investigation. Thakur was working as the chief of the airport for the last two years.
Earlier, the Domestic Terminal Unit of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Purna Chudal was also arrested by the commission with an undisclosed amount of money.
