NRB announces today’s foreign exchange rates

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has published the foreign exchange rates for today (Thursday), indicating a decline in the value of major currencies such as the US dollar, Australian dollar, euro, pound sterling, Kuwaiti dinar, and Bahraini dinar. This downward trend follows a similar drop observed yesterday.

As per today’s rates, the US dollar is being bought at NPR 138.02 and sold at NPR 138.62, slightly lower than yesterday’s buying rate of NPR 138.22 and selling rate of NPR 138.82. The euro has also depreciated, with the buying rate set at NPR 150.44 and the selling rate at NPR 151.10, compared to NPR 151.12 and NPR 151.78 recorded the previous day.

The British pound has weakened as well, with today’s buying rate at NPR 178.99 and the selling rate at NPR 179.77, down from yesterday’s NPR 179.49 and NPR 180.27. The Australian dollar has also experienced a drop, now being bought at NPR 87.39 and sold at NPR 87.77, whereas yesterday, the rates were NPR 88.05 and NPR 88.43.

Similarly, the Kuwaiti dinar and Bahraini dinar have seen slight declines. The Kuwaiti dinar is now valued at NPR 448.04 for buying and NPR 449.99 for selling, compared to NPR 448.81 and NPR 450.76 the day before. Likewise, the Bahraini dinar has dropped to NPR 366.11 for buying and NPR 367.70 for selling, down from yesterday’s NPR 366.64 and NPR 368.23.

On Magh 25, the US dollar had reached its highest value in Nepal’s history, with a buying rate of NPR 139.83 and a selling rate of NPR 140.43.

Nepal Rastra Bank has noted that exchange rates may be adjusted as required. Furthermore, commercial banks may set their own exchange rates, which can differ slightly from the central bank’s figures. The latest updates can be accessed on the official website of Nepal Rastra Bank.
