Bar Election: Ballot boxes continue to arrive

Even though the polling for the election of the 26th Central Working Committee of the Nepal Bar Association was held on Saturday, the counting of votes could not start as the ballot boxes continued to arrive.

 According to Senior Advocate Usha Malla Pathak, Chief Election Officer of Nepal Bar Association, 2078 BS, ballot boxes are still coming. If the ballot boxes arrive by this evening, the counting will start on Monday. Ballot boxes are yet to arrive from Udaipur, Dhankuta and Rajbiraj polling stations.

 Voting was held from 35 centres across the country, including the Kathmandu centre in the Kathmandu Valley. In Kathmandu, the turnout has dropped to 71 per cent. There are 9,708 voters in the election for the 25-member working committee including the chairman and 11 office bearers. Of them, 5,700 are in the Kathmandu Valley and 3,500 are outside the Kathmandu Valley.
