It has been found that the Banke District Administration Office has ignored the request to hand over the licensed weapons. So far, only seven weapons have been handed over from different parts of the district, said Madhusudan Adhikari, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

A notice was issued to hand over the weapons to the district administration office by mid-April as per the instructions of the Central Security Committee and the decision of the District Security Committee to make the local level election reliable and secure.

The office had said that if the weapons were not handed over within the stipulated time, a search would be carried out and action would be taken as per law. It was stated that the licensed weapons would be kept safe at the District Police Office and the nearest police unit and would be returned after the election. 555 people were allowed to keep licensed weapons in the district. Assistant Prisoner and Information Officer Hari Prasad Sharma informed that a decision will be made in a few days.
