CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has said Lumbini has its special significance in the enhancement of Nepal’s international indentify and prestige, and for the tourism development.

In a message of best wishes today on the occasion of the 2566th Buddha Jayanti, the former Prime Minister expressed reverence to the Buddha, the epitome of world peace, benevolence and non-violence.

“We have given much priority to the systematic development of Lumbini to establish it as a hub of tourism and also as a centre of faith of Buddhists across the world. As a result, today we are successful in connecting the birthplace of Buddha with direct international flight service,” the erstwhile Prime Minister said, taking a time to claim that the UML-led government undertook meaningful efforts to turn the vision of ‘Lumbini: a city for world peace’ into reality. As he said, a meditation hall capable of accommodating 5,000 people at once was built in Lumbini under the leadership of UML government.
