Plans underway to make roads safe by developing tunnel ways, PM Oli says

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government has forwarded the plans to make the roads safe by constructing tunnel ways.

Writing on his social sites after the breakthrough of the Siddhababa Tunnel Way on Friday, the PM said the government has forwarded plans to make the roadways safe by developing the tunnel ways. The Siddhababa Tunnel Way, a national pride project under the Siddharatha Highway, runs to the stretch of 1.12 km from Butwal to Tansen.

The PM also stated that several citizens had lost their lives due to frequent landslides in the Siddhababa area.

Once the tunnel way come into operation, the people in Palpa, Syangja, Kaski, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan will have been road connectivity along the Siddhartha Highway.

The route will also be connected to the Kaligandaki corridor.

Earlier, PM Oli attended the breakthrough event virtually from his official residence, Singha Durbar.

Inaugurating the breakthrough of the tunnel, PM Oli expressed the belief that the tunnel way would be a great project providing the passengers a huge relief from the pain of the loss of lives and property and road accident owing to landslides.
