UML wins in Annapurna

CPN (UML) candidates have won both the posts of chairman and vice-chairman of Annapurna village municipality of Kaski.

According to the final results of the local level election 2022 released this morning, Bishnu Bahadur KC of the CPN-UML defeated Yuvaraj Kunwar of the Nepali Congress by 763 votes. While newly elected KC got 6,722 votes, Kunwar got 5,959 votes. In the 2017 election, KC was defeated by the incumbent village chairman Kunwar.

UML's Chandrakala Adhikari Devkota won the election with 6,608 votes.  His nearest rival Khem Kumari Gurung of the Nepali Congress polled 6,014 votes. Out of 11 wards of Annapurna, UML has won in wards  1, 3, 6, 7, 9, and 11 and Congress has won in wards 2, 4, 5, 8, and 10. 

Out of the five local levels of the district, the final results of three municipalities have come so far. UML has won the majority of ward chairpersons including the chairperson and vice-chairperson of Annapurna and Rupa village councils. Congress has won seven ward chairpersons including the chairperson and vice-chairperson of Machhapuchche. The counting of votes in Pokhara Metropolitan City and Madi Village Municipality is underway. In Madi, the Congress, and in Pokhara, the alliance candidate CPN (Unified Socialist) has taken the lead.
