Writing Madhes’ history begins

Writing history of Madhes has begun, according to the Madhes Academy. The Academy chairperson Rambharos Kapadi ‘Bhramar’ has announced the commencement of the writing of history of Madhes at the concluding session of the two-day international seminar at Bardibas-4 on Saturday. “Suggestions from linguists and historians from Madhes and various bordering districts of India are the basis of writing history of Madhes. Writing history has begun from here,” he said, adding that this would take a definite shape within three years.

Similarly, the Academy member Dinesh Yadav said the history writing will accommodate the entire Tarai although Madhes Province has eight districts. Various languages of ancient Kochila, Mithila, Bhojpura, Magadh, Abadh and Tharuhat, culture, traditions and development of various castes will also be included.

Chairperson of the Language Commission Dr Gopal Thakur presented a working paper on achieves, inscriptions, copper plates, ancient currencies and public opinions to be taken as the main basis for writing history of Madhes.

Similarly, Dr Jiban Rana and Krishna Sarbahari jointly presented a working paper on language, literature and culture of Rana Tharu of western Nepal, and Dagaura Tharu of Dang district.

Inaugurated by the Janata Samajwadi Party chairperson and former deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav on Friday, the seminar was attended by historians, language experts and researchers from Tarai areas across the country.
