Electoral activity rising in Kaski

With the date of local elections approaching, election activities have increased in Kaski district.

Aiming at the approaching election, parties have launched their programs in the villages of Kaski and the Election Office has been active.

 The Election Office has already published the final list of voters in the district. According to the published list, 281,833 voters are participating. Of them, one lakh thirty-three thousand seven hundred and forty-two are males and one lakh forty-eight thousand and eighty-seven are females. Four third-gender voters are participating in this election in the district. A total of 150 polling stations and 336 polling booths have been fixed for the election, said Rudra Neupane, spokesperson of the Provincial Election Office, Pokhara.

 Earlier, there were 224,811 voters in Kaski in the 2017 election but 57,022 voters have been added in the upcoming election. There are 3,360 people in Rupa village municipality in addition. In Rupa, there were 11,315 voters in the last election but this time there are 14,675 voters. Similarly, 5,223 voters have been added in Madi village municipality this time. In 2017, there were 13,559 voters in Madi but now the number of voters has reached 18,782. Similarly, 4,015 voters have been added in Machhapuchchre village municipality in this election. In the last election, there were 16,301 voters but now there are 20,316 voters.

 In 2017, there were 15,569 voters in Annapurna village municipality but now it has increased by 4,779 and reached 20,348 voters. There are 39,645 new voters in the upcoming election in Pokhara Metropolitan City, the largest in the district. In the election of 2017, there were one lakh sixty-eight thousand and sixty-seven voters. In Pokhara, two lakh seven thousand seven hundred and twelve voters are participating in this election.

Neupane informed that the office is working to procure materials and prepare the details of the employees to be deployed for the election. He said that 1,008 personnel would be deployed in the district for the upcoming election and 2,685 people including volunteers and security personnel would be mobilized.

 The programs conducted by the parties in the wards targeting the election have heated up the election atmosphere. Focusing on the election, the Nepali Congress Kaski has been running a 'Let's go from house to house and win the Congress' campaign since March 11, which has added positive energy to the party organization, said Nepali Congress Kaski President Kishor Dutta Baral. "Along with the campaign, discussions are also underway within the party regarding the selection of candidates," he said.

 CPN-UML has launched various programs targeting wards, said Man Bahadur Gurung, district chairman of the party. "People's organizations have been mobilized focusing on the election. We have opened party offices in different places," he said.

 The CPN-Maoist is holding ward committee meetings targeting the election, said Bishwaprakash Lamichhane, the party's outgoing chairman of the Pokhara Metropolitan Committee and a member of the Gandaki Province Committee. He said that discussions are going on among the coalition parties regarding the candidates.
