The second phase of voting for the post of President of the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress has started. According to the NC Central Election Committee, polling started at 3:30 pm on Tuesday. The second round of voting for the post of President has begun as Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Shekhar Koirala will compete with each other.
In the first round, Deuba polled 2,258 votes while his rival Koirala polled 1,702 votes. Out of the total 4,691 votes, 4,679 votes were cast.
According to the NC constitution, it will be mandatory to get more than 50 percent of the votes cast for the election. In the re-polling, the candidate who gets the most votes will win. Voting was held for 132 posts including office bearers and members of the NC Central Working Committee.
