A youth was arrested with illegal drugs from Buddha Chowk in Pokhara Metropolitan-10 on Wednesday night.

The arrested has been identified as Lekh Bahadur Gurung (29), a local resident of Arughat Rural Municipality-3 in Gorkha district. He was in possession of 8.2 kg of marijuana.

Gurung was allegedly peddling the marijuana from his nursery based in Manakamana. Acting on a tip-off, Rambazar-based Ward Police Office personnel nabbed him with the substance which he had been hiding in his house.

Meanwhile, Ilam police arrested a youth in possession of 300 milligrams of heroin from Rong Rural Municipality-4 on Wednesday evening.

The arrested has been identified as Prabin Thapa (21), a resident of Kamal Rural Municipality-3 in Jhapa district.

Thapa was riding on a scooter with vehicle registration number ME 10 PA 5587. Kiteni-based Police Office security personnel nabbed Thapa with the substance during a routine vehicle check.

Further investigation into the cases is underway, said the police.
